Hospitality and service workers face unique challenges

If you work in a Miami restaurant or hotel, the types of injuries that you can suffer on the job are very different from most other industries. For instance, a sous chef or a line cook might have to cope with serious cuts or burns after an accident prepping food or cooking on the grill.

Someone working in a hotel could be left to contend with the psychological repercussions after an assault on their person by a hotel guest or even a co-worker. These workers may be encouraged to continue to work after the accident or incident that harmed them. They may not be offered time off to recover or to seek treatment that should be covered by workers' compensation benefits.

We can help Miami workers in any industry receive the workers' comp benefits to which they are entitled under the law. Even if you have been denied benefits, we may be able to successfully appeal that decision and get you the financial and medical relief that you need to fully recover from this employment setback.

Remember, if you suffered an on-the-job injury that leaves you unable to work, you will likely qualify for benefits from your employer. However, along with the rights to compensation and medical coverage, you also have certain responsibilities that you must also uphold.

One of the most important is the timely notification of your employer that you suffered an injury at work while on the clock. Unless you do this, your boss or the company owners may allege that you were not actually injured at work but rather got hurt on your own.

Find out more about your rights to workers compensation today.
